BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
Don Ries represents both institutional and entrepreneurial clients, including developers, investors, owners, buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants, banks, savings banks, savings and loan associations, insurance companies, pension funds, real estate investment trusts, other financial institutions, lenders, borrowers, investment advisors, asset managers, property managers, brokers, redevelopment and other governmental agencies, and other clients, in a broad variety of complex commercial real estate and real estate finance transactions. Much of Mr. Ries' work has involved representing clients in the acquisition, financing, development, and disposition of real estate located throughout the United States, including improved and unimproved land, planned communities, residential subdivisions, apartment buildings, office buildings, shopping centers, hotels, industrial properties, mobile home and recreational vehicle parks, hospitals, nursing homes, residential care facilities, and various other commercial real estate projects. In addition, Mr. Ries has extensive experience representing clients in the origination, enforcement, purchase, sale, and securitization of real property-secured loans, in the formation, restructuring, merger, and dissolution of corporations, joint ventures, general and limited partnerships, limited liability companies, and other entities, and in the licensing and regulation of various types of financial institutions, finance lenders, other lenders, and real estate brokers. Finally, Mr. Ries has significant experience representing clients in a variety of other sophisticated corporate, finance, banking, and commercial transactions.

Mr. Ries is a member of the State Bar of California (Real Property Law and Business Law Sections), State Bar of Arizona (inactive) and Los Angeles County Bar Association (Real Property and Business and Corporations Law Sections).

EDUCATION
Mr. Ries received his J.D. from the University of Chicago in 1985 and graduated from Arizona State University Summa Cum Laude in 1981 with a B.S. in Business Administration.
